Cafe Seol Hwa is a dessert restaurant that specializes in Bing Su, a famous shaved ice dessert from Korea. We took a visit to their Solenad branch just recently to try other flavors that they offer.
It’s my third time eating here, and clearly it’s that good. The place is cozy and inviting. Seats are comfortable and the air conditioning isn’t too cold, just right when you’re eating cold food.
Aside from Bing Su, Café Seol Hwa also serves Dduk Bok Gi, croissants, toasts, and cakes to name a few.
From the multiple variants of Bing Su, we decided to order the large variant of Berry Cheese Bing Su, as it looks appetizing on picture. The shaved ice dessert is topped with strawberries, blueberries, nuts, chunks of cheese and whipped cream. The one we ordered costs Php 360 which is good for 3-4 persons, while the small version costs Php 240 which is good for 1-2 persons.
When eating Bing Su, it’s not recommended that you mix everything up, as the shaved ice melts easily. But no need to worry though, because there are also pieces the toppings stuffed inside the pile of ice, so you won’t be eating just plain shaved ice.
The flavor we chose tasted very good. The berries were overflowing, and has the right sourness to it. The cheese chunks, which at first seemed weird, surprisingly complemented the taste of the berries.
The milk ice shavings isn’t too overwhelming, unlike before when we tried their Mango Cheese Bing Su which, for me, was a little too milky, maybe because the mango toppings used were too ripe.
But I would still recommend the Mango Cheese Bing Su for mango cheesecake lovers and if you’re a coffee fanatic, then the Coffee Caramel Bing Su is perfect for you.
Café Seol Hwa is located at the first floor of the cinema building, Ayala Malls Solenad, Nuvali, Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
